Tripura to host nat�l science film fest

AGARTALA, June 9 - Tripura is set to host the 10th national science film festival during January-February next year, which will boost the cause of promotion of the rich biodiversity and tourism of the State.

The national science film festival aimed at popularising science, technology and environment among the youths was supposed to be held in Goa, but later the venue was shifted to Tripura.

Revealing this, State Science and Technology Minister Sudip Roy Barman recently said there has been a great need to make the people of the State aware of various facts of science and communication.

�It is imperative to join hands with the Central Government�s Department of Science and Technology and Vigyan Prasar to bring the 10th edition of the national science film festival here,� he said while speaking to reporters here.

Lauding the efforts of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for bringing such a film festival here, the Minister said it was Deb who had taken up the matter with the then Union Minister of Science and Technology, Harsh Vardhan.

Dr Nakul Parashar, the director of Vigyan Prasar, said the five-day science film festival would provide a platform for professionals and students to showcase their skills in the field of science and technology.

During the festival, films made on science, technology and environment, including biodiversity, will be screened.
