Tripura to have 64 Composite BOPs

AGARTALA, July 17 - To provide better facilities to jawans guarding the Indo-Bangla border, a total of 64 Composite BOPs would be established along Tripura�s border with Bangladesh, said Addl DG, BSF (Eastern Command) RP Singh.

Of the total proposed Composite BOPs, construction of 36 border posts have already been completed while works are in progress for the remaining BOPs.

�Once all the Composite BOPs are constructed, BSF jawans will get better facilities. It will also ensure better work by the jawans�, he told reporters after inaugurating a Composite BOP at Sabroom in South district on Thursday.

The Addl DG sounded concern over the instances of malaria PF cases among the jawans deployed in remote border areas. �However, malaria PF cases have been checked substantially over the past few years due to better treatment facilities as well as awareness�, he said.

On being asked about cattle lifting, the Addl DG replied, �Cases of cattle lifting is much higher along West Bengal and Dubri in Assam compared to what we are witnessing here in Tripura�.

The Addl DG was on a three-day visit to the State. During the visit, he was briefed about latest security scenario and ongoing construction works including barbed wire fencing.

Before leaving the State today, Singh visited some border areas to know the ground reality. The Addl DG also visited Srinagar Border Haat and interacted with BSF officials and jawans.
