Tripura records 6 more deaths

AGARTALA, Sept 18 - Six more COVID-19 patients, including a 30-year-old, died, while 527 new positive cases were confirmed during the past 24 hours in Tripura.

According to a bulletin issued by the State Health Department, six patients died during the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll in Tripura to 228.

On Friday, 4,890 samples were sent for tests. The total COVID-19 infections rose to 20,791 in the State. The positivity rate has shot up to 5.98 per cent, while the recovery rate has dipped to 65.58 per cent, the bulletin added. Altogether 603 patients have recovered during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, West Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik, along with the District Magistrate of West, Dr Sailesh Kumar Yadav, visited the COVID treatment centre at the GB Pant Hospital and interacted with the patients admitted there.

Later, Bhowmik told media persons that the patients admitted to the COVID wards looked happy with the facilities provided by the Government.

The MP was asked to oversee the facilities at the COVID treatment centre following adverse reports of mismanagement. Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent of the GB Pant Hospital has lodged an FIR against �unknown persons� after a departmental inquiry suspected sabotage behind disruption of oxygen supply to a COVID ward. The FIR stated that �there may be likelihood of sabotage or foul play with the oxygen supply system on the intervening night of 11th and 12th September night as it was indicated in the departmental inquiry. Therefore, you are requested to lodge an FIR and investigate the matter and do the needful�.

The FIR was lodged at the New Capital Complex PS in West Tripura district last night.
