Tripura CPM to launch organisational activities

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, June 29 - With BJPs growing influence in mind, the ruling CPI (M) in Tripura has decided to mobilise its organisation by undertaking various political activities.

The partys central committee in a meeting has decided to organise campaigns against price hike of essential commodities and unemployment.

While briefing the media after the two-day State committee meeting, CPM State secretary Bijan Dhar on Wednesday said the CPI-M would organise a Padayatra at the grass-root level to mobilise peoples opinion against the liberalisation policy of the BJP Government.

The party would organise the campaign from August 1 to August 7 against the alleged semi-fascist post-poll violence on Left Front by Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. The party will invite speakers from West Bengal to address the rallies so that people could understand what Trinamool Congress has been doing there, he said.

On the deplorable condition of Assam-Agartala National Highway, he said the State has been demanding for immediate repair of the NH but neither the Centre nor the Assam Government has taken any step. Suspension of normal traffic on the NH has pushed the State to an awkward situation due to lackadaisical attitude of the Centre, he alleged.

Dhar said Subal Rudra, former Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly was suspended for a year for standing in favour of landlords which goes against the Marxist ideology.

On the IPFTs Twipraland demand, the veteran leader said it has been trying to disturb peace and tranquility in the name of a separate State. We dont support demand for Twipraland, he added.
