With deaths and infections spiralling with every passing day, the Health Department officials are literally worried over the deteriorating Covid situation.

It is indeed a matter of concern due to fatality and infection among the people who have no travel history. Over 9 lakh households were covered by a drive that had detected some positive cases. But overall, the situation is alarming, a senior health official said here today.

Side by side, the official said the state is in a better position in key segments, namely positivity rate, recovery rate, mortality rate and test per million.

The states positivity rate stands at 3.17 percent while the recovery rate is 74.86 percent and mortality rate is only 0.84, which is not even one percent. As far as per million test is concerned, Tripura is among the best-performing states with 54,926, he pointed out.

The official underlined the need for adherence to Covid-19 guideline as much as possible to prevent or keep infection under control. If social distancing and mask is not used, then novel coronavirus will continue to spread its wing, he added.
