Tripura CM on CAB

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Feb 13 - Amidst growing resentment among the tribal-based political parties over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday made it clear that the BJP-IPFT Government would protect tradition, culture, language, education and land of the State at any cost.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen to make North East a wealthy region and 21 per cent hike in the budgetary outlay for the region is the testimony of his dream, he said while speaking to the media here.

Deb said the Prime Minister has already asserted that no decision on CAB would be taken without consultation with NE States during a rally in Assam. It shows that the Prime Minister favours to take cognisance of the sentiments of the people of the Northeastern region before pushing the CAB, he claimed.

In Tripura, a few groups have been trying to mislead the people on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2106 (CAB. It is the duty of the BJP-IPFT Government to protect the rights of every citizen of Tripura. And I promise to discharge this duty with the highest degree of integrity, he said.

Stating that culture, language, education and land of every citizen of the State would be protected, the Chief Minister said he will never allow anybody to harm the States interest.
