Tripura CM meets 4 Union Ministers, pushes projects

AGARTALA, June 10 - Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb called on four Union Ministers in Delhi recently and discussed with them on issues pertaining to the State.

Meeting with Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Chief Minister urged him to review the MoU between ONGC and Tripura Government for effective availability of resources for development of the State.

Deb also urged the Union Minister to set up a CNG station at Sipahijala district at the earliest. In reply, Pradhan gave him assurance of full support to the State.

The Chief Minister also met Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and requested him to operationalise two Kendriya Vidyalayas at Dharmanagar and Udaipur from the current academic session. Besides, he also requested the Union Minister to expedite the process to set up a Navodaya Vidyalaya in Pecharthal of North Tripura district.

In a meeting with Union Minister for Animal Resource and Fisheries Giriraj Singh, the Chief Minister made him understand that the State is heavily paying price for not being self sufficient in milk and fish production.

�A discussion on how to boost cattle farming and pisci- culture in the State to meet the internal demand took place in the meeting. The Union Minister assured of doing needful for the State�, said an official here.

In a separate meeting with Union Cultural and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, the Chief Minister discussed on how the State could be benefitted from the Ministry. He urged the Union Minister to set up an office of Archeological Survey of Indi a (ASI) in Tripura to project the State�s archaeological sites for boosting tourism. �The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of giving full support to the State from his Ministry�, the official added.
