Tripura CM appreciates role of media

AGARTALA, April 5 - Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb presented a vision for development of the State before media persons at the Agartala Press Club auditorium here recently.

He asserted that his Government was appreciative of the importance of the media and its constructive role as the fourth pillar of democracy and added that his Government would not indulge in any partisanship in dealing with the media and its problems.

�I believe that all ideas and their execution should have a human value attached to it and my Government will give utmost importance to this aspect; my government is for common people and there will be utmost compassion and sincerity in resolving problems faced by them,� Deb said, adding that a proposal for raising the pension for retired journalists to Rs 10,000 from the present paltry amount of Rs 1,000 per month is under consideration.

Turning to the major problem of waterlogging faced by people of Agartala, the Chief Minister maintained that river care and maintenance were of utmost importance.
