There has been a daily spurt in COVID-19 positive cases in Tripura following the return of hordes of stranded people from other parts of the country. Meanwhile, 278 patients have been released from hospitals after recovery so far. The active cases currently stand at 718.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted on Saturday: Out of 210 samples tested for Covid-19, 37 people found positive and all of them have travel history including 34 positive patients from Sepahijala district and three patients from Gomati district of the state.

So far, the Tripura Health Department has tested 43,051 swab samples. Till Friday, a total of 656 persons have been in institutional quarantine centres and 9,049 persons have been placed under home quarantine.

The Chief Minister has urged Health officials to increase collection of swabs for COVID-19 tests from those who visit government hospitals or PHCs with ailments like fever, cough and sneezing. With positive cases showing an upward trend, the State Government has decided to conduct tests on all those who have returned from outside the State during the lockdown.
