AGARTALA, March 17 - The Congress on Thursday held a meeting to prepare its strategy for the Budget session of Tripura State Assembly beginning Friday.

In the meeting, an elaborate discussion on various public interest issues was held to nail the treasury bench during the brief session.

Opposition members are expected to attack the ruling CPM on issues like corruption in MGNERGA and fate of SSA teachers, according to sources.

Congress MLAs would also try to nail the treasury bench on the Yusuf Commission report constituted to undertake judicial probe on the assassination of the then Health Minister Bimal Singh.

Bimal Sinha, the then Health Minister was killed by NLFT militants when he went to Abhanga area in Dhalai districts Kamalpur subdivision to rescue his brother Bidyut Sinha who was earlier abducted by the outfit. Both were killed on March 31, 1998.

Following a directive from High Court of Tripura, the State Government has decided to table the report of Yusuf Commission in the Assembly. According to sources, the report would be tabled on the last day of the Budget session on April 7 so that the opposition does not get time to study the report. On the opening day, Finance Minister Tapan Chakraborty would table the State Budget for 2016-17.
