Tripura Board seeks apology for mistake

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, May 23 - In the face of protests by student and youth organisations, Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) president Prof Mihir Deb on Monday sought apology for inadvertent mistake in this years higher secondary (+2) results of Science stream.

At a press conference, the president declared the results of Science stream of higher secondary on Saturday and later the results were withdrawn after noticing mistakes in the marks.

In a notice, the TBSE authority had admitted the results were wrong as marks of practical papers were not included mistakenly.

Angered by the callous attitude of TBSE, student and youth wings of political parties NSUI, Yuba Morcha and SFI activists today staged agitation in front of the Boards office.

Hundreds of NSUI activists on Monday went to TBSE office and met the president to lodge its grievances on the faulty results of higher secondary.

Around 200 Yuba Morcha supporters also staged demonstration in front of TBSE office and asked the Board president to come out to receive deputation.

Prof Deb publicly admitted gross mistake on the part of the Board and he takes the onus, said one Yuba Morcha leader. The Board president promised to declare error-free results and marksheets of the higher secondary exam, he added.

However, Prof Deb refused to quit the job even as errors in Boards results have become a common phenomenon, he alleged.
