Tripura BJP chief seeks outgoing CM�s blessing

AGARTALA, March 4 - In an exemplary show of political courtesy the BJP State president and Chief Minister-in-waiting Biplab Kumar Deb paid a courtesy call to the outgoing Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the latter�s official residence on Saturday.

Apart from brief exchange of courtesies, he touched the feet of Sarkar and sought his blessings before assuming his responsibility. Sarkar was also generous enough to extend his blessings to the much younger Deb.

Later, Deb paid a visit to CPI (M) party headquarter at Melarmath area and paid floral homage to the late CPI (M) leader and former Minister for Fisheries Khagendra Jamatiya, who had breathed his last in Delhi�s AIIMS hospital on Thursday morning. He also spoke to CPI (M) State secretary Bijan Dhar and other senior leaders.

�I had sought blessings of the outgoing Chief Minister as he has vast knowledge in running a government for 20 years. I told him I will seek his opinion whenever such situation arises�, Deb told the media.

The former RSS activist further said, �We want to work with all section of people because it was the masses who voted in favour of the party to form the next government�.

�In democracy win or defeat is inevitable and a strong opposition is needed for a healthy democracy. I have no enmity to anybody�. Want to make Tripura a best State�, Deb who led the party to a stunning victory by dislodging the Marxist bastion said.

Earlier, Sarkar met Governor Tathagata Roy on Sunday and tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister. �I would like to thank all the people and government officials for their cooperation to run the government for 20 years�, he said. The Governor accepted the resignation and asked him to continue until the new CM assumes office.
