DOOMDOOMA, May 12 - Under the auspices of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya and Netaji Socio- Cultural Association, the people of Doomdooma joined with the rest of the country in celebrating the 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya on Sunday.
On this occasion, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Tagore. The headmaster of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya Prabin Mazumder led the people and the students in paying tributes. Addressing the gathering, retired headmistress of the school, Bani Sen, spoke on several aspects of life and works of Tagore.
Students presented Rabindra Sangeet, recitation of Tagore�s poems and dance on Rabindra Sangeet on this occasion.
BRO Day: The 56th Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Day was also celebrated at the headquarters of Project Udayak of BRO here on May 7. On this occasion, several programmes like volleyball tournament, GREF Sanmeelan, tree plantation, barakhana etc., were organised.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Engineer of Project Udayak, Umesh Chandra Mehta, applauded the troops for their dedicated service to the nation.
Under the guidance of its president Nirupama Mehta, the Border Roads Wives Welfare Association organised a health awareness camp at Doomdooma to mark the occasion.
Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Kalikho Pul and Director General of Border Roads Lt General Suresh Sharma, AVSM, greeted the BRO personnel. Twelve personnel from Project Udayak were awarded with DGBR Commendation Card for their sincere and dedicated service to the nation.
