NALBARI, Feb 21 � Rich tributes were paid to senior journalist Apurba Kumar Sarma at a function held on the Nalbari AASU office premises here on Friday. Sarma�s younger brother, Satyen Sarma, offered floral tribute on the portrait of the slain journalist, while the DIPRO of Nalbari, Tridip Nandan Bora lit a lamp.

The memorial meeting was presided over by Rohini Medhi, adviser of All Assam Journalists�s Union. It was addressed by Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya, Jiten Sarma, Amiya Barman, Nagen Deka, Himan Barman, TN Bora, Ramen Kalita and others.

The meeting was jointly organised by the Nalbari District Journalists� Union, Nalbari district unit of the AASU, Nalbari Sports Association and Nalbari Sadar Press Club. The meet was conducted by journalist Dhrubajyoti Sarma. As many as 47 earthen lamps were lit in memory of the late journalist.
