Tributes paid to author Jogesh Das at Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA, Sept 12 - Rich tributes were paid to eminent Assamese author and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Jogesh Das, on his 20th death anniversary here recently.

Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha (DSSS) in association with Abhinava Natya Mancha (ANAM) organised a special programme on the occasion on Sunday evening at Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhawan.

The programme began with the lighting of lamps and offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Jogesh Das by DSSS president Arjun Baruah. Explaining the objectives of the programme, the DSSS secretary said that Jogesh Das is the pride of Doomdooma and the coming generations must follow the path shown by him.

Arjun Baruah spoke on various aspects of Jogesh Das�s life and works. Besides the members of DSSS and ANAM, vice-president of DSSS Nityananda Das, president of Tinsukia District Journalists� Association Anuj Kalita, assistant secretary of Doomdooma Press Club Manoj Baruah, Assistant Professor of Doomdooma College Dwijen Sharma, eminent theatre activists Rajiblochan Bora and Joysuryya Bora were present on the occasion. Nayan Deka, the secretary of ANAM, offered the vote of thanks at the end.
