GUWAHATI, March 15 - Bhupen Deka, an employee of the Assam Tribune Group of Publications, passed away at his residence at Salmara in Bejera around 6.30 pm today. He was 54.
Deka, who had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the past several days, was shifted to his residence this afternoon.
His untimely demise has cast a pall of gloom on all members of The Assam Tribune group.
He was very popular among his colleagues for his amiable and helpful nature. A music enthusiast, Deka used to participate in socio-cultural activities of the Assam Tribune group.
He leaves behind his wife Jamuna Deka, his mother and two daughters besides a host of relatives. His last rites will be performed tomorrow.
