Tribune Group, ATEU felicitate toppers

GUWAHATI, June 8 � The Assam Tribune Employees� Union (ATEU) and the Assam Tribune Group today jointly felicitated the HSLC 2010 State toppers Jugal Talukdar and Higher Secondary (Arts) final exam topper Geetika Talukdar along with other meritorious children of the ATEU members.

At a function organised at Pandit Tirthanath Sarma meeting hall, both the toppers were felicitated with a collection of books, bouquet of flowers, citation and a token cash award.

Jugal Talukdar of Sankardev Shishu Niketan, Choukhuti, Barpeta, expressing his thoughts, thanked the organisers of the programme for encouraging the meritorious students by felicitating them. His father Janak Talukdar and principal of his school, Karuna Dutta were also felicitated on the occasion.

According to Geetika Talukdar of Bausi Banikanta Kakoti College, Barpeta, hard work and perseverance led to her success. Her father Dharani Talukdar and principal of her college, UC Deka were also honoured at the function.

The children of ATEU members who were felicitated today for their good results in the HSLC and CBSC Class X examinations were Anshumita Deka, Manoj Kumar Kalita, Diksha Dutta, Indranil Biswash, Mrinmoy Deka, Jurimoni Haloi, Sukanya Kakoti, Tazia Parvin and Pragyan Parashar.

ATEU president Saifuddin Ahmed presided over the function and general secretary of the union Dugdharam Kalita explained the objective of the meeting.

Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, noted journalist Dhirendra Nath Chakrabarty called upon the meritorious students to keep on working hard and bring laurels to their family and the State.

�Getting top ranks in the HSLC or the HSSLC examinations provides the students an incentive to work harder to achieve greater heights,� he added.

TG Baruah, chairman of the Assam Tribune Group lauded the students for their hard word and exhorted them to keep up the good work. Editor of The Assam Tribune PG Baruah was also present on the occasion.

ATEU vice president Siba Prasad Deka read out the citations presented to both the toppers.
