Tribal Sangha calls for Dimoria bandh on Nov 10

By Correspondent

JORABAT, Nov 8 - The Dimoria district unit of the All Assam Tribal Sangha has called for 24-hour Dimoria bandh on November 10 to oppose the expansion of the capital region.

All trade-related work will be closed, including the shops and other business establishments in the region. However, emergency services will be allowed to operate, said Ratneswar Ronghang, president of the unit.

As per the Sangha, the Assam government is doing injustice to the people of Dimoria by deciding to expand the capital city region by including this tribal belt through the Assam State Capital Region Development Authority (ASCRDA) Act, 2017.

Earlier on November 4, several organisations in the region, partnering with the Tribal Sangha took to streets in a bid to block the National Highway-37 at Sonapur.
