Tribal Artisans Mela

JALUKBARI, Nov 23 - The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, an organisation under the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, in association with Tribal Co-Operative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, organised a Tribal Artisans Mela (TAM) on November 22, at Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The main objective of the TAM was to select the potential tribal craft products for marketing, identification of new tribal artisans and empanelment of the potential artisans under (TRIFED) for future sourcing of products for national and international markets.

Gegong Apang, former Chief Minister of Arunachal and Chairman, Tribal Development Foundation, Arunachal was the chief guest at the programme. Manoj K Das, Director, IIE, Surinder Sharma, Regional Manager, TRIFED and Hemanta Rabha, Sr Project Officer, IIE also attended the programme.

Around 40 tribal artisans from handloom sector attended the mela to showcase their products. They were empanelled under TRIFED, stated a press release issued here.
