HAFLONG, Aug 15 - Massive cleanliness drives and tree plantation programmes were organised on the first day of the three-day Independence Day celebration by NGOs, Government offices and private and Government institutions throughout the Dima Hasao district on Saturday.
At Haflong, along with Government departments and NGOs, the NC Hills Autonomous Council also organised a cleanliness drive on the premises of NCHAC Secretariat. It was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Member in-charge Fleming Syla Rupsi in presence of Chairperson Ranu Langthasa, MAC, Him Bahadur Chetri and Principal Secretary (N) Mukut Kemprai, RO, Saindesh Ardao and others.
Before the inauguration of the programme of the cleanliness drive, Principal Secretary (N) of the NCHAC spoke on the significance of the programme while stressing importance of cleanliness and appealed to the people to keep the environment clean.
