GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - To pay homage and celebrate former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhis life on his birth anniversary, the All Assam Youth Congress organised a tree plantation and distribution programme in the State on Thursday.

The Youth Congress members in Dhubri, Sivasagar, Goalpara, Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Nagaon and Barpeta districts also organised several programmes on environmental awareness apart from tree plantation and distribution.

The Youth Congress also strived to form a public opinion regarding the draft notification of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), 2020 in the State.

All Assam Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam Choudhury said, The proposed changes were not guided by environmental concerns but by concerns for corporate sector. We are forming a strong public opinion across the State and will register massive protest against it if needed, Choudhury said in a press statement.
