GUWAHATI, June 11 - The State government today said that no illegal activities or nepotism will be allowed in the Transport Department.
Addressing a press conference here today, Minister for Industries & Commerce, Parliamentary Affairs and Transport Chandra Mohan Patowary said that directions have been issued to ensure that licence and renewal permits for commercial vehicles are issued as per the Motor Vehicle Act without delay.
�We have directed the Transport Department that there should be no complaints. Anybody who seeks commercial vehicle permit or renewal of permit should be given so without delay or harassment,� he said.
The Minister added that Assam has been losing huge revenue on account of delay is issuing of commercial permits as people go to nearby States, like Nagaland or Meghalaya, to secure the relevant documents.
