Training on sickle cell anaemia

GUWAHATI, April 19 � The Assam Institute of Research for Tribals and Scheduled Castes (AIRT&SC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, organised a two-day training programme at the Assam Administrative Staff College from Saturday on sickle cell anaemia and the use of space technology in identifying water bodies for the benefit of the people of backward classes of the State.

The training programme was the first of its kind in this region, where representatives from the tribal affairs departments of all the north-eastern states participated, an official release said. Scientists from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) took part in the programme along with the Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and other senior officers of the ministry.
