Training on broiler farming held

TINSUKIA, April 30 � A three-day training programme on broiler farming was held recently at Hatijan Gaon Panchayat office complex situated at Holoutup village under Borhapjan Village Panchayat of Hapjan Development Block under Makum PS in Tinsukia district.

The training organised by the District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department and Zila Parishad with the cooperation of Regional Youth Development Organisation (RYDO), a local NGO, was participated by 60 persons including women from 22 nearby villages.

The trainees were imparted training on the modern method of broiler farming through which they would not only be eking out their livelihood but also would be making profit. The training was imparted by Dr Amrit Sagar Dehingia, Dr Rubul Saikia, Dr Bhupen Gogoi, Dr Kalyan Kr Khanikar, etc, of the District. Veterinary department, besides Bani Kumar Dev Sharma, Dist Dev Manager of National Bank for Rural Development (NABARD).

The valedictory function, presided over by Abhiram Tewang, president, Hatijan gaon Panchayat, was also attended by Dr Anup Kumar Das, Dist Vety. Officer, Sukhen Bora, president, Tinsukia Zila Parishad, Ratneswer Gohain, president, Hapjan Anchalik Panchayat, Bani Kumar Dev Sharma, Dr Amrit Sagar Dehingia and other guests. Dr Das, DVO, stated in his deliberation that in Tinsukia district broiler has great demands as the four units of Indian Army stationed in the district alone need one lakh kg of broiler every month and Army authorities have approached him for arranging for supply of their requirement.

Dr Das asserted that each trainee should start farming broilers immediately to meet the demands of the market. Sukhen Bora, president, Zila Parishad has appealed to the people of the rural areas to engage themselves in various kinds of livestock farming like piggery, duckery, goatery and the District Veterinary department always ready to help the people with proper guidance and training. The trainees also have been awarded with certificates on completion of the training.
