Training on bamboo products held at Baredala

BAIHATA CHARIALI, June 22 - With an aim to make people interested in bamboo craft and get self employed through it, the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC), Byrnihat organised a 15-day-long skill development training cum workshop on bamboo products at Baredala village under Bihdia Jajikona development block of Kamrup district.

The training was organised in association with Baredala Hasta Silpa Society in which 25 unemployed youths were given free technical training on various products of bamboo. The valedictory function of the training programme was held on June 19 where certificates of completion of the training were given to the trainees.

Participating in the function, H Priyo Kumar Singh and Paramanda Mali, manager and assistant manager of training cell of the CBTC spoke about various products of bamboo and their rising demand in the international market.

Gakul Payeng, branch manager of Indian Overseas Bank, Singarpara explained the schemes of banking loan for the artisans of bamboo craft. Similarly, Jayanta Chaudhury, junior inspector of the Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Society at Rangiya described about the need of such types of cottage industries in the area and said that government should allocate special package for the uplift of the industry.

In the function all trainees were given a kit of tools and their products were displayed.
