Training held for vote counting officials

GUWAHATI/JALUKBARI, May 10 - To ensure an error-free counting process for the four Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of Kamrup Election District, a daylong training for the counting supervisors and counting assistants was held today at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Amingaon.

Altogether 260 counting officials participated in the training. The training was imparted by Project Director of DRDA and in-charge Training Cell Bivash Modi, ADC in-charge (Election) BK Bora and ADC in-charge of Personnel Cell Pragya Saharia, besides other master trainers.

Another training will held tomorrow at 11 am at the same venue for 150 micro observers.

Meanwhile, preparation is going on in full swing for conduct of an error-free counting of votes on May 19.

For counting of votes of Boko, Chaygaon, Palashbari and Hajo LACs, altogether eight counting halls have been constructed at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Amingaon. There will be two halls for each LAC.

There will be altogether 88 counting tables, 20 tables each for Boko, Chaygaon and Palashbari LACs, while 28 counting tables will be set up for Hajo LAC.

Already 260 counting supervisors and counting assistants have been appointed, besides 150 micro observers. Necessary officials for transit and sealing process have already been appointed.

A review meeting on preparedness will be held on May 12 at Amingaon in connection with holding of error-free counting.
