By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - In view of the forthcoming Tiwa Autonomous Council election, the district administration of Kamrup (Metro) today started a training session for the polling and presiding officers at the Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School here.

The Kamrup (Metro) district administration is responsible for conducting polls at 100 polling centres in six constituencies of the autonomous council.

Moreover, today Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu held a meeting with Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) to be engaged in the polling exercise, and explained to them their duties and roles in the election.

As a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic during the election to be held on December 17, the district administration will be deploying ASHA workers at the polling stations and they will check the temperature of the voters before the latter enter the polling booth to cast their votes.
