Train carrying EC appeal flagged off

GUWAHATI, April 8 - The Guwahati-Okha Dwarka Express train, decorated with the message from the Election Commission of India (ECI) urging people, including young and PwD voters, to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, was flagged off by Nodal Officer of SVEEP, Election Department, Pankaj Chakravarty.

Senior NF Railway official Kapil Jambulkar and State election icons like Tarali Sarma, Kapil Bora, Purnima Barman and Golap Rabha were also present in the ceremony.

The train will carry the message of Systematic Voters� Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) throughout its journey till the completion of the election.

Flagging off the train, the Nodal Officer spoke about various initiatives undertaken through awareness campaigns with the support of stakeholders to attract all citizens to the electoral exercise. The emphasis has been laid on enhancing PwD voters� participation by appointing poll volunteers at every station. �The train branded with ECI�s SVEEP messages will help in generating awareness among the voters,� he stated.

A similar programme was also held at Rangiya and New Bongaigaon railway stations to strengthen the SVEEP activity.
