IMPHAL, May 21 - A special train carrying 430 stranded people of Manipur from Hyderabad arrived in the State today. The special train arrived at the Jiribam Railway Station around 10 am. Soon after their arrival, the returnees were transported to their respective districts in 21 State Transport Department buses after conduct of necessary medical procedure.
Today�s returnees include 35, including three infants, from Ukhrul district, 47 from Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, 52 from Senapati and Kangpokpi districts, 86 from Churachandpur, Pherzawl and Bishnupur districts, 54 from Thoubal and Kakching districts, 54, including two babies, from Imphal West district, 66 from Imphal East, Kamjong and Noney districts, and seven from Tamenglong district.
In addition, 29 returnees, including one baby, belong to Jiribam district.
Meanwhile, 213 persons were tested for COVID-19 at the VRDLs located in the RIMS and the JNIMS till 6.30 pm on Thursday and all have been found negative, a press release issued by the COVID-19 common control room stated. The State Government, in consultation with other stakeholders, has decided to immediately discharge people with negative results for home quarantine.
CM�s COVID-19 Relief Fund: The Manipur Ex-MLA Welfare Association has donated Rs 2,22,222, the Sericulture Department (Imphal West Office) Rs 4,97,792, the Manipur Baptist Convention Rs 2,36,000, Shri Shri Radha Govindajee Gwal Beishnab Samaj Rs 20,000 and the Kuki Baptist Convention donated Rs 1,00,000 to the Manipur Chief Minister�s COVID-19 Relief Fund.
