Traffic snarls irk people at Baihata Chariali

By ANN Service

BAIHATA CHARIALI , Oct 30 - The residents of Baihata Chariali are fed up with perennial traffic jams at all major thoroughfares of the town. Frequent traffic snarls on various roads of the town have raised serious questions about the efficacy of traffic management in force.

The present traffic congestion can also be attributed to rising number of vehicles in the town.

The traffic jams on the Chariali-Ramgaon-PWD road is due to poor traffic management by the authorities concerned.

There is no proper traffic management as two-wheelers, tempos and rickshaws park on both sides of the road, and as a result of which people are facing severe hardships, a section of commuters told this correspondent.

Moreover, the bi-weekly markets create major problems in the area. Police sources said that though the tempo drivers have been asked not to park their vehicles in a radius of 100 metres in the main police point, they hardly follow the rules for which the commuters are facing serious problems. Another major problem is that main footpaths have been occupied by a section of businessmen which has made the problem more complicated, the people alleged. They also appealed to the administration to take urgent steps considering the gravity of the problem.
