Traffic restrictions in view of oath-taking event

GUWAHATI, May 23 - In view of the swearing-in ceremony of the new State Cabinet tomorrow, specific traffic arrangements have been made around the Veterinary College field, Khanapara, Dispur and Basistha.

All vehicles coming from Upper Assam side, carrying participants, will be guided to the J Marbaniang Service Station, Greenwood Resort and Young Construction for parking. Vehicles carrying participants from Lower Assam will be guided to the Express Highway and the Six-mile, Panjabari Road, for parking. Vehicles carrying participants from the Lower Assam and Guwahati side will also be parked at the Basistha Mandir parking lot, Patarkuchi LP School field and Singhal Parking (Patarkuchi).

All light motor vehicles carrying participants coming from Guwahati and Lower Assam side will be guided to the Beltola Bihu field, Beltola Bazar field, Tripura Gali point to NERIM point, Beltola Tiniali to Dakhin Beltola High School field (via Lakhi Mandir), Water Resource office complex, River Water Research office complex, Directorate of Agriculture office complex and the Veterinary College campus.

All participants riding two-wheelers and bicycles will be guided to the Khanapara Rotary for parking.

According to the instructions from the office of DCP Traffic, Guwahati, the traffic restrictions and diversions include guiding the participants coming from the Zoo Road and GS Road side through Supermarket, Last Gate, BN Saikia Road and after dropping the participants at Basistha Chariali, the vehicles will have to proceed towards Basistha Mandir or Patarkuchi.

The participants coming with their private LMVs from the city areas will be guided through Supermarket, Last Gate, BN Saikia Road and via Six-mile � and those from the Joyanagar side will be allowed to park their vehicles at the Beltola Bazaar field, Beltola Bihu field, the earmarked stretch of the Beltola Tiniali, etc.

Heavy commercial vehicles coming from and going to BG Yards will be restricted from 7 am of May 24 till the end of the ceremony. All heavy commercial goods-carrying vehicles coming from within the State and outside will be regulated at different points from 10 am.

The no-parking areas include National Highway 37 from LGBI Airport to Khanapara, DG Road from Jalukbari Rotary to Bharalumukh, MG Road from Bharalumukh to Raj Bhawan, KLB Road, GNB Road from RBI Point to Guwahati Club, B Baruah Road, GS Road from Volvo Point to Khanapara.

Parking will not be allowed on the road from the main entrance of the venue to the Research Gate point (Beltola-Khanapara Road) and GS Road intersection. Similarly, no vehicle would be allowed to park on the service road of NH 37 from Khanapara to Basistha Chariali.
