GUWAHATI, Sept 29 � To ensure safety of public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens and differently abled persons on the roads, the city police has imposed restrictions on movement of vehicles with effect from September 30 to October 3.
Following restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed during the period from September 30 to October 3, 2014, in Guwahati city area.
Goods-carrying vehicles (heavy, medium and mini trucks) shall not be allowed to enter the city from 1 pm to 4 am next day from Jalukbari, Garchuk, Lokhara, Beltola, Hatigaon and the Chandmari side. The goods- carrying heavy trucks will be allowed to enter the city from 4 am onwards, subject to no obstruction on the road due to Puja up to 7 am.
However, for trucks coming to and from the BG Yard, Noonmati and the FCI godowns, New Guwahati, the period of entry is scheduled from 3 am to noon via Six-mile, Joyanagar, Khanapara, Express Highway and visa versa.
Dr RP Road will be one-way from the Ganesh Mandir side. There will be no-entry for vehicles coming from the Zoo Road side to Ganesh Mandir. Vehicles are to move via Service Road, GS Road and Supermarket Point. There will be no-entry on the Service Road from the Wholesale Market side to Ganeshguri. Light motor vehicles coming from the Assam Secretariat may take the Wholesale Market Road towards Ganesh Mandir (one-way).
There will be no-entry on AK Azad Road from Nepali Mandir side towards Sarabbhati. Entry is open from Sarabbhati only. There will also be no-entry on MS Road from the Sani Mandir side. Entry is open from the Railway Gate No.4 only. There will be no-entry on Dr JC Das Road from the Khubchand point. Entry is open from Tribeni Sweets only (JC Das Road�Danish Road).
There will be no-entry from Maligaon Chariali to Pandu. Entry is open from Adabari Tiniali only. There will be no-entry for vehicles on PNGB Road between Maligaon Chariali and Kamakhya Railway Station level crossing. All vehicles coming from the Kamakhya Railway Station and Gotanagar area shall be allowed to move through the Railway Gate No.3 and Railway HQ.
There will be no-entry towards RK Choudhury Road and SC Road from Kumarpara Pachali, Fatasil Ambari.
Parking of vehicles shall not be allowed on AT Road (Athgaon flyover to Bharalumukh) and Dinesh Goswami Road (between Bharalumukh to Shantipur).
There will be no-entry on Beltola Joyanagar Road from Joyanagar Chariali to Beltola Chariali. Joyanagar Beltola Chariali Road shall be one- way from the Beltola Chariali side. Bhetapara Chariali-Beltola Chariali Road will be one-way from the Beltola Chariali side. There will be no-entry for vehicles from Bhetapara Chariali towards Beltola Chariali, on Dr BN Saikia Road from Beltola Chariali up to AG Office bye-lane.
AG Office bye-lane will be one-way from the AG Office side. No vehicles will be allowed to enter from the Beltola Joyanagar side. Parking of vehicles shall be allowed between Joyanagar and Khanapara on Beltola� Khanapara Road.
On the other hand, no vehicles shall be allowed to enter from the Anuradha Point to Hatigarh Chariali. Vehicles will be allowed to enter from Hatigarh Chariali only. Restrictions have also been imposed on movement of city buses, trekkers, slow-moving vehicles, etc.
The traffic police will ask puja committees to provide volunteers for traffic arrangements and all the Traffic I/Cs shall liaise with the puja committees for making necessary arrangements for parking of vehicles near the pandals subject to availability of parking space. However, efforts are being taken to park the vehicles beyond 100 metres of each puja pandal.
Roadside parking will be strictly prohibited on the MG Road, B Borooah Road, GNB Road, Tayabullah Road and on the stretch of GS Road from the Lachitnagar Point to the Janata Hotel Point. On other roads, parking on the roadside will be allowed if such parking dose not hamper the flow of traffic. Both-side parking on any of the roads and at or near intersections shall not be allowed in any case.
