Traffic restrictions during Assembly session

GUWAHATI, Nov 6 � Movement of vehicular traffic in the city would be regulated in view of the ensuing winter session of the Assam Legislative Assembly with effect from November 8.

The traffic wing of the police department has decided to divert and restrict movement of various types of vehicles in view of the Assembly session.

As per the plan, movement of all types of vehicles will be restricted on the road from Supermarket point to Dispur Last Gate from 7 am till the session of the day is over.

Vehicles coming from Basistha Chariali towards Dispur Last Gate will be diverted towards GS Road from Beltola Tiniali and will run via Jawahar Nagar road, Joyanagar Chariali and Six Mile service road.

Those commuting through the Beltola Tiniali towards Ganeshguri will run via Dispur-Beltola road and RP Road behind MLA hostel.

Police department, in an official press statement, informed that the city bus stops between Ganeshguri Chariali and Supermarket on Sixty Feet Road, on RP Road and the road behind the MLA hostel will be withdrawn temporarily during the Assembly session.

Parking of vehicles will also not be allowed on the same route during the period.

�Vehicles bound for Beltola via Last Gate will run through GS Road, Supermarket, and Six Mile point (via flyover service road) Joyanagar road. Hatigaon and Kahiliapara bound vehicles from Paltan Bazar side will run through Service Road of Ganeshguri flyover, RP Road and vice versa,� the release stated, adding, � City buses and other heavy vehicles coming from RG Baruah Road side towards Hatigaon and Kahilipara will run via Ganeshguri Service Road, GS Road, Six Mile point, Beltola Tiniali and Last Gate point.�

Moreover, all the slow moving vehicles will be restricted at Rukminigaon Tiniali, Dispur Last Gate, Jatia, Hatigaon Lakhimi Tiniali, Nayanpur, Hengerabari Public Health, Down Town Road and Supermarket.

The restrictions on the slow moving vehicles will come into force at 7am and continue till the session is over on the day of Assembly session. Restrictions on slow moving vehicles on GS Road will continue as usual.
