Traffic restrictions due to Budget session

GUWAHATI, March 1 � In view of the Budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly to be held from tomorrow, restrictions on the movement of vehicular traffic have been enforced to ensure safety of the general public, vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, differently-abled persons and two-wheeler riders etc., and to maintain smooth flow of vehicular traffic in and around Dispur capital complex as several organisations have announced agitational programmes during the period, an official release stated.

Diversion of vehicular traffic: Movement of all types of vehicular traffic on the 60-foot road from Supermarket traffic point to Dispur Last Gate traffic point shall remain closed from 8.30 am till the session is over for the day.

City buses coming from Basistha Chariali towards Dispur Last Gate shall be diverted towards GS Road from Beltola Chariali and shall run via Jawahar Nagar Road, Joyanagar Chariali and Sixmile service road.

All kinds of light motor vehicles coming from Beltola Chariali side towards Ganeshguri shall run via the Dr BN Saikia Road and Dr RP Road (situated behind MLA Hostels).

City bus/public bus stops between Ganeshguri Chariali and Supermarket point on GS Road and from Ganeshguri to Hatigaon on Dr RP Road shall be withdrawn temporarily during the Assembly session.

Vehicles bound for Beltola via Last Gate shall run through GS Road, Supermarket, Sixmile point (via flyover service road) and Joyanagar Road.

City buses coming from Hatigaon and Kahilipara side shall run through Dr RP Road, Ganeshguri flyover and proceed to their destinations.

City buses and other heavy vehicles bound for Hatigaon and Kahilipara coming from Paltanbazar/Zoo Road side shall run through GS Road, Ganeshguri upto PIBCO and then diverted through Ma Manasa Path, Rukminigaon upto Rukmini Nagar and Last Gate.

City buses coming from Panjabari side will be diverted at Sixmile flyover and directed to the Express Highway, Patharquarry, Narengi, Mathgharia, Geeta Mandir and Zoo Road Tiniali.

No-parking zone: Both sides of GS Road from the Janata Bhawan to Supermarket, the 60-foot road from Supermarket to Last Gate, Dr RP Road and the road behind MLA Hostels shall be no-parking zones during the time of the Assembly session.

Vehicles found parked in the mentioned areas will be towed away without any further intimation.

Restrictions: All slow moving vehicles shall be restricted at Rukminigaon Tiniali, Dispur Last Gate, Jatia Faguna Rabha Tiniali, Hatigaon Lakhimi Tiniali, Nayanpur, Hengerabari Public Health, Down Town Road and Supermarket.

Restrictions on the slowmoving vehicles will come into force at 7.30 am and continue till the Assembly session is over for the day. Restrictions on slow-moving vehicles on the GS Road will continue as usual, the release mentioned.
