Traffic regulations in view of I-Day function

GUWAHATI, Aug 13 � Guwahati city traffic police has imposed a series of restrictions and route diversions during the Independence Day celebrations in the Khanapara field from 9 am.

In a release here, the SP, Traffic, Bibekananda Das said that during the programme, movement of all heavy commercial goods carrying vehicles coming towards Guwahati through National Highways 31 and 37 will be regulated as and when necessary.

The release said that in and around the venue, vehicles with �red, blue and yellow passes� will be allowed to move up to Koinadhara point either via GS Road, Khanapara Rotary and NH 37 or via Assam Rifles (IG Prison office gate) point and park at the earmarked places. From Science Museum (APSC) point to Koinadhara point, only the vehicles with �red, blue and yellow passes� will be allowed entry during the celebration.

Commercial goods carrying vehicles will not be allowed to ply on GS Road from Khanapara to Sixmile. Such vehicles will be be allowed to ply via Tripura Road � Joyanagar � Sixmile road only.

The public coming by vehicles �without vehicle pass� to attend the function from Dispur, Beltola, Noonmati, Narengi side will be allowed to park vehicles either at northern side of GS Road or to bring vehicles via Sixmile and Joyanagar point up to Assam Administrative Staff College Gate or via Research Gate towards Joyanagar and park at earmarked places.

No vehicle will be allowed to be parked in the stretch of the National Highway 37 from Koinadhara point to Khanapara rotary, from Koinadhara point to the IG Prison office (Assam Rifle building) point, the road from the Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC) gate to the Research Gate point.

On parking arrangements, the release said that vehicles of police officers, security personnel, parade contingents, cultural troupes etc. are to be parked either on GS Road or on the road along Veterinary College campus wall or on the road from the AASC gate to Joyanagar chariali.

Parking of vehicles of public (without passes) � will be allowed from the AASC gate to Joyanagar chariali, on GS Road (Northern side), from Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium to Research Gate.
