GUWAHATI, April 2 - Commissioner of Guwahati Police Deepak Kumar today felicitated Mithun Das, traffic personnel of the Basistha Police Station, at his office for showing utmost dedication to duty.

The Commissioner felicitated Mithun after he got huge accolades from people on social media after a brief video, showing him doing his duty braving heavy thundershowers, without wearing a raincoat or holding an umbrella, went viral on Saturday. He has made us all very proud. Hes one good example of our staff dedicating their lives in the service to the nation. So, today we have arranged a felicitation programme for him.

I am also very happy to see the overwhelming appreciation coming from the general public on social media. It is really very encouraging, Kumar told The Assam Tribune.

Director General of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia also congratulated the traffic policeman over phone after the incident. The visuals of the traffic constable Mithun Das are truly inspirational. I personally talked to him and conveyed my appreciation. I also hail all the Assam Police personnel like him, who stand against such adversities every day, without being recorded, the DGP wrote on Twitter.
