Traditional sports festival held at Hatsingimari

HATSINGIMARI, April 9 - With a a day-long programme, the Southsalmara Mankachar district administration and Southsalmara Mankachar District Sports Association organised a day- long Traditional Sports Festival at Hatsingimari, the head quarter of Southsalmara Mankachar district. The programme was inaugurated by R Terang, ADC by hoisting the DSA flag.

The competition and demonstration of different indigenous and traditional games and sports popular in Southsalmara Mankachar district took place at Hatsingimari College ground starting from 11am where hundreds of students and local people participated. The main attractions of the day were �tel khuta bogwa�, �hai gudu�, �kut-kut�, �lobon-dari� etc.

On the occasion, a seminar on the indigenous games popular played earlier in the district was held at 4 pm at the auditorium hall of Hatsingimari College where Shashi Kr Deka, Asstt Commissioner, Dipankar Nath, Asstt Commissioner, Southsalmara Mankachar district, Raj Mohan Roy, Additional SP were present as honourable guests. The seminar was presided over by A Hanif Ali, president, DSA, Southsalmara Mankachar district. At the end , the prizes among the winners in various competitions were distributed. DSA sources informed that from this festival nine men and nine women are selected to represent the district in the State-level competition to be held from April 10 to 12 next at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.
