Traders� body meets GMC Commissioner

GUWAHATI, May 12 � A delegation of the Assam Chamber of Commerce (ACC), comprising Sisir Dev Kalita, secretary general, Assam, Ananta Goswami, president, Guwahati, Abhijit Kalita and Pankaj Pratim Deka, secretary generals, Guwahati, Arup Kumar Deka, organising secretary, Guwahati, and Shyaam Das Sinha, treasurer, Guwahati, met the Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today regarding the concerns of traders over the renewal of trade licences. The ACC stressed the need of encouraging new entrepreneurs by abolishing some clauses imposed by the GMC for trade licence renewal. Such clauses include provisions regarding location of a business establishment at a commercial complex, parking facilities, etc. The Commissioner agreed to hold a meeting with his subordinates regarding the issue and assured a positive reply within a week. He also assured the delegation to consider the issue with a holistic approach, said a statement.
