JORHAT, Dec 17 � Suspicion prevails over the transparency of Jorhat police as they displayed about Rs 39 lakh recovered from a car of a businessman of Dibrugarh Rajiv Jain which was hit by two speeding vehicles on NH-37 at Kakojan yesterday evening.
After the mishap Jain threatened the people who gathered there, with a pistol. The people overpowered him and handed him over to the police of Lahdoigarh Police Outpost. Later both Jain and the car were shifted to Jorhat Sadar PS.
Jorhat police at midnight took out the money from the car without the presence of a magistrate. Sources said there might be over Rs 1 crore.
