AGARTALA, Sept 8 - Bilateral trade through Integrated Land Port, Akhaura Integrated Check Post here, has been suspended from Saturday after exporters and importers of Bangladesh�s Brahmanbari district stopped trade citing security reason, according to sources.
Due to suspension of trade, no vehicle came from Bangladesh while no vehicle crossed over from Indian side, the sources said.
In a memorandum, the business body of Brahmanbari informed the authority of Akhaura Land Port that bilateral trade will remain suspended from Saturday as there has been problem in loading and unloading of materials from Bangladesh.
It said, �Bangladesh traders have suffered huge loss as substantial quantity of fish had got rotten on Wednesday due to strong resistance from some undesirable elements at Akhaura Land Port. There has been security concern for the trade through the Land Port�.
An official of Akhaura Land Port today confirmed suspension of trade through the port.
Due to suspension of trade through Land Port, there has been substantial rise in the price of fish in different city based markets. The State heavily depends on fish import from Bangladesh.
