Toyota launched the updated 2016 Platinum Etios and Platinum Etios Liva, at prices starting Rs. 6.43 lakh and Rs. 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom prices, Mumbai). While the Toyota Platinum Etios is a sedan, the Platinum Etios Liva is a hatchback and both of them carry the �Platinum� tag.
The Platinum models sport a smiley sorta front-grille, sculpted front bumper, attractive fog lamp provisions, subtle-yet-prominent air dams, etc. The interiors also look very spacious, with the rear seats reworked to add more comfort.
The silhouette remains very much similar, while it also gets alloy wheels only on the top-spec trim. The interiors have also been rejigged to make it more compatible for fleet operations, which the Etios has been famous for.
The dashboard gets dual-toned with ivory and black with a digital tachometer and a combination of digital and analog dials. On the safety front, dual airbags and ABS are offered as standard by the Toyota on all variants of the Etios.
Under the hood, the 2016 Toyota Platinum Etios facelift gets powered by a 1.5-litre petrol mill, whose price starts at Rs. 6.43 lakh, while the diesel-powered Platium Etios gets a starting price of Rs. 7.56 lakh (ex-showroom prices, Mumbai).
The updated Platinum Etios Liva, on the other hand, draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol mill, whose starting price is Rs. 5.24 lakh and the 1.4-litre diesel-powered variant gets priced beginning Rs. 6.61 lakh (ex-showroom prices, Mumbai).
The transmission option in all the engines of both the 2016 Toyota Platinum Etios and Toyota Platinum Etios Liva is the 5-speed manual gearbox that comes standard in all the trims.
The previous models will also remain along with the facelifts of both these cars. Toyota Kirloskar Motors, however, are trying to target both the commercial fleet vehicles segment, as well as the personal use segment, with these new facelift models.
