GUWAHATI, March 6 - Kamini Prasad Barua, promoter of the Wild Grass Resort in Kaziranga, breathed his last at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital after protracted illness.
He was 60.
A trained biologist, Baruah had been at the helm of the nascent travel trade in Assam since the 1990s at the grassroots level and helped in bringing the host community in the Kaziranga area to the sphere of tourism.
Barua�s role is acknowledged for orienting both national and international visitors to the benign usage of the recreational values of Assam�s protected areas, especially the Kaziranga National Park.
He leaves behind his wife, son and a host of friends and admirers. His last rites were performed at the Navagraha cremation ground here this afternoon.
