Total COVID-19 cases rise to 132 in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 5 - With eight more persons testing positive, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur has climbed to 132, a State Health official said today.

Altogether 41 persons have so far been discharged from hospitals after testing negative.

�Today eight persons (five males and three females) were confirmed as COVID-19 positive at the VRDL (Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratory), RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences),� said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of the Health Department in a press release this evening. �Three persons (one male and two females) were discharged from the RIMS after testing negative for COVID-19. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 41,� the release added. The number of active cases stands at 91, it stated.

�All returnees (by train) are requested to submit the details of their travel history (such as date, place of origin, train name, coach number, seat number, including the bus number from Jiribam to Imphal) to the in-charge of their quarantine centres,� the release further said.

Lockdown violators detained: The Manipur Police detained 393 persons and seized 430 vehicles for violating lockdown restrictions, said Additional DGP (Law and Order) L Kailun in a press release on Friday. They were produced before magistrates and a total fine of Rs 59,200 was imposed on them. Police have appealed to the public to follow the guidelines issued by the Government.
