This is the second consecutive year that a girl student from the district has become the topper in the HS Arts final examination.

Pubali secured a total of 481 marks with letter marks in all the six subjects.Pubali, the second child of Brajen Chandra Deka, a non-academic staff of Patharighat HS School and Anupama Deka, a housewife, is a resident of No.1 Chengapara village under Patharighat revenue circle of Sipajhar assembly constituency.

She attributed her success to hard work and relentless support from her family as well as faculty of NRDS Junior College and Patharighat HS School.

Deeply impressed by the personality of Juri Saharia, one of her high school teachers, Pubali has set her goal to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher with an attractive personality, Pubali told The Assam Tribune. She wants to study either at Cotton University or Tezpur University for her graduation with major in Assamese or Education.

Unlike other teenagers of her age, Pubali likes to spend her leisure time weaving, caring for pet animals and studying books and journals.

It may be mentioned here that the first rank holder of this years HSLC examination, Dhritiraj Bastab Kalita, also hails from the same locality.

Besides Pubali, two other girls from the district Mayurika Deka from Ranjit Sarma Academy and Manashi Saharia from Brilliant Academy, Mangaldai bagged the third and fourth ranks respectively, in Arts stream.

Mayurika, daughter of bank employee Rajen Deka and teacher Labhita Talukdar Deka from Upahupara, Mangaldai, secured 473 marks with letter marks in all the subjects. She gave credit to her ever-supportive parents, apart from her academic guides and teachers. In future, Mayurika wants to crack the civil services examination. She wants to study at Cotton University for graduation with major in Political Science.

My parents are my role models. They are always supportive and did not put mental pressure on me for good results. I want to become a civil servant for which I wanted to study in Delhi. But due to the present situation, I would like to study at Cotton University with major in Political Science, Mayurika said.

Manashi Saharia from Brilliant Academy, with a total of 472 marks and letter marks in all the subjects, bagged the fourth rank in the Arts stream. Manashi, daughter of businessman Bhagawan Saharia and SSA staff Mrinalini Thakuria, is a resident of ward no.10 of Mangaldai town.

I want to offer my special thanks to my maam Sumi Das Bhuyan for her guidance as a mentor, said Manashi, who wants to become a teacher for which she wishes to pursue her studies from Tezpur University with major in English. She is also determined to attempt civil services examinations.
