Topcem Cement sets up sanitation facility at school under CSR initiative

Guwahati, Jan 30: Topcem Cement, a major cement brand of the North-east, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, has supported the construction of a toilet block at Arya Vidyapeeth HS & MP School, Guwahati, under an initiative of Rotary Club of Guwahati Luit’s flagship project #ISupportHer.

Two wash basins for girl students and one wash basin for boys are also installed in the toilet block as hand washing with soap and water helps in preventing the spread of diseases, a media statement by Topcem Cement said here.

Around 400 students of the institute are expected to be benefited by the initiative, it said.

Dr Anil Kapur, President, Meghalaya Cements Ltd, recently inaugurated the toilet block in the presence of Rotarian Raajeev Thaakur, President, Rotary Club of Guwahati Luit, Rotarian Rajiv Jain, Trustee of Rotary Guwahati Luit Trust and other senior members.

In his inaugural speech, Dr Kapur said, “As proper toilet hygiene facility is the need of every society to keep themselves healthy, we are proud to be associated with Rotary Club of Guwahati Luit in this project which will benefit more than 400 students of this institute...”

Rotary Club of Guwahati Luit under its flagship project #ISupportHer initiative has taken up construction of toilet blocks in government schools for the benefit of girl students. The initiative aims to improve the sanitation standards in schools and in the coming months more schools will be covered under the initiative, the statement said.

As Topcem Cement believes that every little change helps us to achieve a better tomorrow, Meghalaya Cements Ltd took the first initiative in building toilets in 2018 when it constructed 5 toilets at Geetanagar High School, Guwahati, and Changsari High School in Kamrup (R) district.
