GUWAHATI, March 20 - Topcem Cement on Monday formally announced the launch of �Topcem Mason Skill Development Training Programme�, in collaboration with Centum Foundation, with the aim of improving knowledge and skill levels of masons.
Addressing the media in this connection, Dr Anil Kapur, President, Sales and Marketing, Topcem Cement, said, �Our endeavour has been to contribute towards local skill development keeping in view the requirement and government priorities. This attempt is a start-up for Topcem Cement and we would like to take this further with active participation of the youth.�
Earlier, the training programme was inaugurated by Dr Kapur on March 16 at Topcem India, Gauripur Plant, Kamrup. The programme was attended by 30 trainees, who have been selected through the Topcem dealer network.
Based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualification Packs (QP) of NSDC, the Topcem Mason Skills Development Training Programme will enable Topcem Cement to engage and improve relations with the key stakeholders while at the same time helping the masons to increase their skills and income opportunities, Dr Kapur said.
The programme will enhance the employability as well as the image of masonry as a respectable and highly skilled trade, Dr Kapur said, adding, it will also help promote concrete technology and appropriate use of concrete products.
