Top seed Vishnu to take on Suraj for title

GUWAHATI, Nov 17 - Top seed Vishnu Vardhan will face off against Suraj Prabodh in the title clash of the Asian Tennis Tour Men�s Tournament, organised by the All Assam Tennis Association (AATA).

At the AATA complex here today, Vishnu � the London Olympian and medal winner in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games had a facile 6-0, 6-3 victory against third seed Kunal Anand in the semifinal.

In the other semifinal Suraj Prabodh earned a straight set (6-4, 6-3) victory against 4th seed Niki Kaliyanda.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals Vishnu defeated Ishaque Iqbal 6-2, 6-1. Suraj defeated 2nd seed Mohit Mayur 5-2 (conceded); 4th seed Niki Kaliyanda defeated Parikshit Somani 6-1, 6-2; 3rd seed Kunal Anand defeated Arnav Alok Goel 6-3, 6-2.

In the second quarterfinal of the day, Assam boy Parikshit could not put up any challenge to qualifier and 4th seed Niki Kaliyanda as the latter showed much maturity and took control from the very beginning without giving any opportunity to break the service.

The final is slated for tomorrow at 11 am, informed AATA secretary Ankush Dutta.
