Top NDFB cadres trying to regroup

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, May 27 Assam Police today claimed that three of the top NDFB cadres, who have also been named in the chargesheet filed by the CBI in connection with October 30, 2008 serial blasts, are trying to regroup the unit with their bases outside the country.

The cadres include Rajen Goyari alias Rifikhang, Arun Borgoyary alias Dinthilang and George Boro alias John.

This comes at a time when the State Government and even the arrested NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary has expressed willingness to sit for talks.

While Rifikhang has been given the overall charge of the outfit, Dinthilang is the new army chief while George has been entrusted with the responsibility of the deputy army chief, claimed a senior official of the Assam Police.

He went on to inform that the Assam Police is continuously in touch with its counterparts to get hold of the trio.

According to sources, while Dinthilang is said to be operating from somewhere near the Assam-Bhutan border, George Boro, according to sources, is presently based in Myanmar.

However, Police conceded that the whereabouts of Rifikhang, who was last seen in Bangladesh, is still not known.

It appears that the trio has taken over the responsibility of the outfit and is reactivating their bases, the sources claimed, adding, Arms dealing and money collection are the areas the outfit is desperately trying to strengthen.

When asked the sources informed that the outfit at present has the strength of over 200 cadres.

Of the 19 accused listed in the CBI chargesheet, seven including NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary have so far been arrested.
