Top bodybuilders to vie for Mr Saraighat title

GUWAHATI, March 17 � Several leading bodybuilders from various States have confirmed their participation in the 21st RG Baruah Memorial All India Bodybuilding Championship for the Mr Saraighat title.

Disclosing this in a press conference here today, Bhabajyoti Goswami, general secretary of the Assam Bodybuilders and Fitness Association, the organiser of the championship, said this time the meet will be organised at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium on March 21 where several national and international level bodybuilders will be seen in action.

The title winner will take home a purse of Rs 21,000, while the top five position holders in both under 75kg and above 75kg weight categories will also be awarded with cash prizes ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5,000.

Goswami revealed that bodybuilders from States like Jharkhand, Orissa, Bengal, Delhi, Haryana, Railways, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Punjab have already confirmed their participation. From Assam, Debashis Phukan, Ritumoni Bora, Nipananda Hazarika, Sujit Boro, Arabinda boro, Indranuj Kashyap will contest in the meet which has been organised by DS Group.

Goswami further said they have been allotted the 50th National Bodybuilding and Physically Challenge Championship which will be organised here on May 6 to 9. Other officials of the organising committee Basanta Das, Ramen Das and Kushaljyoti Malakar were also present in the press conference.
