GUWAHATI, Aug 18 � Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) thrashed Assam by 138 runs in their group league match of the Buchi Babu All India Invitation Cricket Tournament at Chennai today.
It was Assam�s third match and the team could not gather any points so far. In the last match, Assam will play against Hyderabad on August 21 and 22.
Resuming at 235 for two in 74 overs, Tamil Nadu batted for another 10 overs today and declared at 309 for four in the 90 over a-side match.
Assam, in reply were in trouble from the initial stage and started losing wickets at regular intervals. Finally the visiting team was bundled out for 171 in just 53 overs. Barring a decennt unbeaten 70 off the blade of Tarjinder Singh, no Assam batsmen could withstand the sharp Tamil Nadu bowling. Amit Sinha (28), Prasanta Sonowal (18), Sarupam Purkayastha (15) were the other Assam batsmen who had showed some form.
